We are the Reverend Andrew J Jolly, Chaplain to the UK Oil & Gas Industry, and Mrs Anne Fullerton, the Chaplaincy Administrator. Most folk just call us Andrew and Anne.
We work together to provide essential pastoral support to individual employees, to entire offshore crews, to onshore employees, to their families and to their friends.
We do so at any time of day and on any day of the year. And we do it in complete privacy and confidence. Unless you wish it otherwise, you and we will be the only ones to know that we are in touch.
Whoever and wherever you are, if you are in need, we are here for you and we will never turn you away.
The Reverend Andrew Jolly is a native of Aberdeenshire although
he spent much of his childhood in Glasgow. After studying at the University
of Glasgow he was licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Church
of Scotland.
There followed many years of service as a Minister, including a period as an Army Chaplain and a longer period as a chaplain in the Royal Air Force. He served both at home and abroad including operational tours in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland and the Falkland Islands. He was also a parish minister at Fern, Careston, Menmuir linked with Oathlaw, Tannadice in Angus for a number of years. Andrew’s experience of helping people cope with adversity stems from his experience in all types of ministry. Injury, illness, family bereavement and break up, damaged relationships, personal tragedy – all required pastoral care and attention and were an important part of his work as a military Chaplain and as a parish minister.
His wife, Chrissie, is a nurse and they have two daughters, Sarah and Alexandra. Beyond his immediate family, Andrew’s interests include sailing, music and running a smallholding.
Andrew believes he knows the secret of the Chaplaincy’s success:
“We don’t see ‘bosses’ and ‘workers,’ he says, “and we are not here to judge. We see people who need our help from time to time, so our door is open to all. We always remember that it is people who matter and that their human dignity is important.
“Our position in the industry is unique and privileged. We can listen to and help anyone. But we are not dominated by any group or person and that independence enables us to build genuine, trusting relationships with people at all levels.”
Mrs Anne Fullerton was born and raised in Fort William,
Inverness-shire. Her keen interest in working with people was reflected in
her early career as a travel agent and then as an air stewardess. Later study
led her into office administration from where she came to the post of Chaplaincy
Administrator.
Anne and her husband, Terry, have one son and one grandson. Their varied interests include fly fishing, walking, motor sport and reading.
“My life-long faith and my enjoyment of working with people come together in this post”, says Anne. “It is a real privilege to meet and offer support to people through crucial moments in their lives, whether happy or sad.”
