Who Are We?

The Reverend Martin Grashoff is the current Chaplain to the UK oil and gas industry and was appointed in March 2011.

He was ordained as a minister in the Netherlands in 1995. A fully qualified teacher and nurse, he subsequently studied divinity at the Theological University of the Reformed Churches in Kampen and at the University of Amsterdam. He moved to Scotland in 2004, spending three years working on the staff at the Iona Community on Scotland's west coast before serving as a minister in parishes in Glasgow and Kilcalmonell, linked with Killean and Kilchenzie, in West Kintyre.

Martin is married to Nelleke, who has worked as a Shop Manager on Iona and in Glasgow. They have three children and one grandson, all living in the Netherlands. Cycling, camping, reading and computers are their personal interests.

The Reverend Dr Ian McLean provides support to the UK Oil and Gas Industry Chaplaincy as the Assistant Chaplain, a role which he has fulfilled since 2009. Dr McLean was born in Aberdeen but spent his teenage years in Edinburgh where he graduated from the University of Edinburgh before being ordained as a Minister of the Church of Scotland. For over 25 years he was Minister of Summerhill Parish Church in Aberdeen, serving for a time as Clerk to the Presbytery. During these years he came into contact with many in the oil and gas industry and has also shared the ups and downs of everyday life with people from every walk of life. In 2008 he moved to Montrose to become Minister of Montrose Old & St Andrew's where he enjoys ministering in a busy town with a rural hinterland. He served for 10 years in the Royal Naval Reserve, mainly on mine hunters in the North Sea, all around Scotland and as far as the Mediterranean. Following part time study, Ian graduated Doctor of Ministry in 2006.

Ian is married to Elaine, who works in the oil and gas industry. They have two children. Ian has long been a rugby referee and continues his interest as one of the Scottish Rugby Union's referee coaches.

Lynne de Boer took over from Anne Fullerton as Chaplaincy Administrator in June 2011. Lynne was born and brought up in Perthshire and moved to Aberdeen in her early twenties. Her husband's work with Shell took her across the oil and gas industry around the world, to Brunei, Oman and The Netherlands before settling down in Aberdeen. She has worked as a secretary with several legal firms in the city and considers it a privilege to work in the environment of the oil and gas industry's Chaplaincy.

Lynne has two children, both living in Aberdeen and her interests include cooking, interior design and gardening.
