The Oil Chaplaincy Trust Limited

Providing financial relief to those in the oil and gas industry or their immediate dependants who find themselves with immediate financial problems.

Its Origins

This small Trust has been in existence since 1990. Administered by the UK Oil & Gas Chaplaincy, with directors drawn from the Oil and Gas industry and from mainstream Church denominations, the directors meet several times a year to disburse funds according to individual need. Meetings can be arranged at short notice if the circumstances of an applicant are such that a quick decision is required.

Its Purpose

To provide fancial relief to those who have worked in or are working in the UK sector of the Oil and Gas Industry or their immediate dependents who, through illness or injury find themselves with pressing financial needs. The Trust normally makes one off payments.

Funding

Financial support for the Trust comes from many and diverse groups. Regular contributors include individual operating companies, the IADC, the OCA, Offshore Installation Welfare Funds and individuals. We are always very grateful for their support.

Awards

Awards over the years have varied between £150 and £2500. These have been made to relieve either an immediate financial need or to purchase items essential to ensuring a good quality of life. The Trust cannot offer financial assistance over a protracted period or where other Trusts or Charities may be able to offer support. Each case is considered on its merits. The Trust cannot offer financial support to pay off debts, rent arrears, council tax arrears or outstanding loans.

Administration

The Trust is administered through the UK Oil & Gas Chaplaincy by a Board of Directors. Currently the Chairman is Mr George Beattie of PSN and the Oil Chaplain is the Managing Director. There are five further directors and a company secretary.
